Starting with a fresh, brand new vehicle is every 4wd owner’s wish. TJM Mount Isa is proud to show the build up of their new display vehicle, demonstrating what can be done to make a stock standard vehicle into an Outback Tourer.
As the Holden Colorado was still quite new to the market, in the beginning accessories were limited. However now there is a wide range to suit this very capable off roader. One of the first accessories to be fitted was a TJM Airtec snorkel, giving a higher, cleaner air intake.
With Touring and remote area travel in mind, a colour coded smooth finish canopy with built in roof racks and Black Widow drawers were fitted. The need for as much load area as possible lead us to mounting the 50th anniversary Engel to the floor behind the driver’s seat, the Holden Colorado has a 60/40 folding back seat with the seat base also folding up making this an ideal place to fit the fridge. A TJM Yulara roof top tent and Winton awning quickly followed making for a fast camp anywhere in the bush.
It became evident that the OE skinny wheels and tyres were not going to fit the use of this vehicle and were replaced with ATX series Texan wheels fitted with Mickey Thompson STZ tyres. Integra aluminium side steps have been fitted to allow better access and to reduce the amount of debris put up the side of the Colorado. An LRA 130litre fuel tank carries enough fuel to go the distance.
With all the extra accessories a suspension lift was in order, just the typical 50mm lift but a slightly heavier rear leaf pack was chosen to handle the load when travelling. Rounding out the build up we fitted a Rhino Rack Pioneer roof rack over the cabin to allow for those few extra’s that just wouldn’t fit in the back.
For the time being a polished alloy nudge bar has been fitted to give us somewhere to fit the Fyrlyt driving lights, we intend to fit a TJM T13 bull bar and some rear protection upon availability
so watch this space!
